1930's Log Cabin | The Cottage | Linden, TX

Mill Creek Lodge

Log Cabin Small

Need a quiet, relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of city living? Vacation away from the crowds at the Mill Creek Lodge on a 30-acre private fishing lake in Northeast Texas only 75 minutes from Shreveport, LA, a 2 1/2 hour drive east of Dallas and 20 minutes north of Jefferson

The Mill Creek Lodge consists of a 1930's era log cabin, which sleeps up to 6, and a cottage built in 1998, which sleeps up to 4. Both properties overlook the private fishing lake. Click here for a few words from our guests.

The Log Cabin

The log cabin has a fully furnished kitchen, living/dining room, bedroom, bathroom and large screened porch overlooking the lake. Along with coffee, sugar and creamer, bedding and linens are also provided. You simply need to bring your food, clothing and personal items to enjoy the tranquility of the lake and it’s surroundings.

The cabin sleeps up to 6 with a full bed and queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room. Inside the cabin is a non-smoking area but the screened porch gives ample space and protection from the weather for smoking. There is one television that gets only local channels. However, if you really want to watch other stations, bring your satellite receiver and card and we can provide a portable dish. There will also be a DVD player with several children’s movies available to watch or you can bring your own movies.

Outside, there is a gas grill and fire pit but you will need to bring your own firewood for the fire pit. There are 2 concrete picnic tables available and several lawn chairs. Outside games include volleyball, tetherball, badminton, lawn darts and horseshoes (you will need to set up the nets). Indoor games include cards, dice and several board games. There are also books for reading.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WATER IS APPROXIMATELY 25-30 FEET FROM THE CABIN DOOR WITH NO BARRIER BETWEEN THE CABIN AND THE LAKE. PARENTS WITH YOUNG CHILDREN WILL NEED TO RECOGNIZE THIS IS NOT A CHILD FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT AND CHILDREN MUST BE MONITORED VERY CLOSELY AT ALL TIMES.

The Cottage

The cottage, built in 1998, has been added for guests who may prefer more modern conveniences such as central air/heat, a dishwasher and 1 1/2 bath's.  It will sleep a maximum of 4 with a queen bed in the single bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Inside the cabin is a non-smoking area but the cottage has an open air porch which gives ample space and protection from the weather for smoking. Just like the cabin, the cottage is fully furnished with bed linens, towels, and kitchen cookware and utensils.  All you have to bring is your food, clothes, and fishing gear.

There is a fishing pier, and a jon boat with a trolling motor and battery.  It has a small fenced back yard area that gradually slopes down within 10 feet of the water.  Because of the closeness to the water, families with children should consider the log cabin because of it's larger play area away from the water.

Pet Policy for the Mill Creek Lodge Properties

PET POLICY:  AT THE TIME YOU MAKE YOUR RESERVATION, you will need to advise me of any pet you plan on bringing.  There will now be a non-refundable cleaning fee for guests who bring a pet.    PLEASE bring only those pets which are house-broken and will remain off the bedding.

Fishing Lake

This is a fishing only lake; no swimming or other watercraft allowed. There are milfoil, stumps and other lay-downs on the lake for you to try your hand at catching your dinner. A flat-bottomed johnboat with life vests, paddles, a battery and trolling motor is provided. You will need to bring your own fishing gear, rod and reel, lures and baits. The lake has established Kentucky and Florida bass, blue channel catfish, crappie, and red eared bream. You may keep what you catch but please do not keep unless you plan on cleaning and eating.

A few words from our guests ...

Michael Martin Murphy
October 19-27, 2006

"The Cabin by the Lake is truly a step back into a simpler, more slow-paced era, when a man had time to get away to a sylvan paradise.  Here is a place to think, pray, create and heal the soul from the cares of the world.  The Cabin by the Lake is the very vision of an old fashion vacation cabin that is very hard to leave."

Bobbie and Bob

"We had to see the lake again.  I saw an eagle today!  We'll be back."

Becca

"What a peace-filled, relaxing, stress-free escape.  This was exactly what the doctor ordered. We sat on the porch and listened to the frogs and crickets.  It was bliss. Look forward to our return trip."

Bobbie and Bob

"We couldn't have dreamed we could sleep with the windows and doors open.  We haven't been able to do that in years.  Thanks for providing all the amenities.  We think this is as pretty as Moose Head Lake in Maine .  We will not be driving back to Maine !  Was worth the trip."

David and Carol

"I have never heard so many frogs singing at night.  We sat on the porch and just listened.  We had a very relaxing time.  We'll be back."

Jerry and Naomi

"This place is great.  I love how you thought of everything right down to the first-aide kit.  We appreciate the care and attention to detail that you have taken.  This is our new vacation spot."

Sean

"What a great time my family and I had.  We drove from Dallas not knowing what to expect and the place exceeded all expectations.  We will be back soon."
